I used to own
PalmVx with
PalmOS 3.5.3.
It will always be special for me, since it was the first palm I had.
Here is the list of applications and other bits and pieces I found
useful while using my PalmVx. Most of them are
freeware, of course.
System
-
X-Master (V1.4)
is PalmOS system extensions (Hack) manager
by LinkeSOFT.
-
McPhling (V2.12)
by Mike McColister.
A popup list of recently used applications.
Very useful hack. I use it all the time.
-
FontHack123 (V3.2)
by Sergey Menshikov.
Font substitution for PalmOS. I use it only to display ISOLatin2
characters in slovenian texts properly. Neccessary fonts are
ISO-L2 fonts.
-
ClipHack (V1.1) [Shareware]
by Deskfree Computing.
Extend palm clipboard.
The original PalmOS clipboard is pathetically small.
-
AsciiPopHack (V0.3)
by Nick Banks.
Show Ascii character table from any application
and cut/paste any character from it.
-
ClockPopHack (V1.6)
by c.S.Millman.
Displays current date and time if you press DateBook button for a
second or so. There are newer versions, but I don't like them.
-
FlipHack (V1.1)
by Douglas I. Anderson
Rotates Palm screen for 90,180,270 degrees. Might come handy someday.
-
ClipNoteHack (V0.2)
by Nick Banks.
Displays contents of a clipboard from any application.
-
SnapCalc (V1.43)
by Ling Nero.
Simple calculator as a popup in every application. Neat.
-
Filez (V4.0)
by NoSleep Software.
A file manager application for PalmOS. Allows you to access any file
in your palm and change it's attributes (and of course it's dangerous!).
-
Runtime (V2.1)
by Uwe Klimmek.
Statistics of palm usage.
-
AAA Font Viewer (V1.4)
by Richard M. Hartman.
-
NewPen (V1.3)
by nagamatu@sm.sony.co.jp.
With this application you can use screen as a grafitti area instead
of silkscreen. Everybody who tried to use PalmVx in the dark will
appreciate this one.
Viewers
-
QED (V2.72) [Shareware]
Palm doc (AportisDoc) viewer
by QLand.de.
I like this one because it has some nice features like virtual screen,
fixed fonts, etc... If you register it also doubles as an editor.
-
CSpotRun (V1.1.2)
Freeware Doc Viewer
by Bill Claggett.
-
iSilo (V2.58) [Shareware]
Palm Doc reader
by ISilo.
Another one with hyperlinks and images, etc...
-
FireViewer (V3.7.1)
by Firepad.
Image viewer.
Utilities
-
Cipher (V2.03)
Encryption program
by Holger Klawitter.
Personally I like this one the most. It does everything I need.
It's simple, and you can have encrypted stuff in MemoPad or AddressBook,
so it is synched with other stuff...
-
Big Clock (V2.81)
The ultimate clock program
by Jens Rupp.
A clock program with alarms, worldtimes, countdown alarm, etc...
There are newer versions with themes an stuff, but until a get Handera
or color palm, I'm sticking with this one.
-
HandyShopper (V1.70)
by Christopher Antos.
is a grocery list program
A very simple grocery list program, it does most of things I want of it.
There is a much more elaborate version by the same guy.
Databases, tax computer, calculator, etc.
It can be used for a lot's of different things. It's called
HandyShopper 2.5.1.
-
DateDiff (V2.1)
by Robert Watkins.
Can compute how many day are between two dates. Handy.
-
DateMate (V2.70) [Shareware]
by MobiMate.
Never forget your friend's birthday or an important aniversary again.
-
Holidays (V1.1.6)
by Blue Light Software (Andreas Ruge).
Define your own public holidays and import it to DateBook.
Unfortunately it doesn't work on PalmOS lower than 3.5).
-
Parens (V1.5) [Shareware]
by Rick Huebner.
A nice calculator, It also has a mode for currency conversion. A Palm
original is way too simple. Do not forget to install MathLib as well.
Unfortunately, as of May 28, 2002 Parens development and distribution
was discontinued and even
documentation
is not available any more.
-
QuickSheet [Shareware]
by Cutting Edge Software.
Best spreadsheet program for PalmOS there is.
-
Pester (V1.3)
by Sands USA.
This program will pester you with the system alarm or a short beep.
You just set the interval. I can imagine situations tha this program
be useful.
-
IPcalc (V1.11)
by Lucas Wall.
It says: for lazy netadmins that don't want to get pen and paper
to do some bitwise calcs. Obviously, I qualify.
-
Primes (V2.0)
by CFBsoftware
Primes and factors of any number.
-
Online (V1.6) [Shareware]
by Mark/Space Softworks
is a VT100 terminal emulator for PalmOS.

If you want to scribble something on your palm,
this is the application to do it.

Dial! (V12/9/02)

One SMS sender for Palm that works (for my Nokia, at least).
Reference
-
ChemTable (V2.11)
Periodic table of elements
by Robert Eng.
-
Planetarium (V1.9) [Shareware]
by A. Hofer.
I never knew what I am watching up there until I found this program.
Now I can recognize all kinds of stuff there. It also doubles as compas.
Cool. There are higher versions, but not being a professional this one
is good enough for me (and it's a bit faster, too :-)
